Great deals!
Can you believe that there is only 79 days until Christmas is here? Well, it looks like several great deals have started for personalized items such as photo books, business cards, photo calendars, note pads, pens, tote bags, and so much more! These will make great Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers. My friend over at Centsible Savings has a post about some great deals from Vistaprint. This morning I found a few more items over at Artscow that you can order and get free shipping. Click on the "Special Sale" tab and they have new coupon codes for an item every day this month. With Christmas so close, I'm hoping to take advantage of some of these great deals.

A Post in Progress?
Last night, I worked for quite a while on a new post for everyone. It's about a project that I've been doing over this last month. I was almost to the end and.... then... it... happened. No, I didn't delete it all accidentally. I just ran into a problem when I tried to upload my pictures to the post. So until I can figure out a way to add them from this computer, I'll wait to tell you about my project. Do I have you in suspense?!

Home Sweet Home
Two things that I really enjoy doing is redecorating and home improvement projects. I like seeing something that may be dirty or broken and fixing it up to look almost new again. Because we are renting an apartment in an older house, I don't get the opportunity to do these fun projects very often, but we have done a few things here.
Recently, I decided it was time to dress up our front entry way. To get to our apartment you have to go up these narrow and steep set of stairs. Well, moving furniture in and out of this area has left it's mark all over the walls as you can see.
I wanted to keep this a very, very low budget project so I began by looking around to see what I had on hand to use. So I used leftover paint and put two coats of yellow on the walls and two coats of white on all of the trim. Then I bought a curtain rod for the window and a rod to hide our shelving. Now I needed some curtains. Curtains can be soooooooo expensive! Well, one Saturday my mom and I went out to some yard sales and I found my curtains. There were four panels and valances of the prettiest lace curtains ever! And to make it even better, they only cost me $3! I was so excited. On the following day, someone else that I had told about my little project found two free swag curtains that had never been used. They matched perfectly with my $3 curtains.
I bought one curtain rod for the window and one small rod to go over the shelves so I can hide all of our things. Sorry, but I don't have a picture of the junkie shelves. :) I just draped one swag curtain over the top of the curtain rod and used rubber bands to hold it in place like this.
So here is the almost final product. I say almost because I still have to paint the door white and finish the curtain for my shelving. All total so far, I've only spent about $10. The paint was free, the swag was free, the curtains were $3, and the curtain rods cost around $7. I'll post the final pictures when it is totally finished. Of course, it might be a while because my sewing machine is broken at the moment . Oh, the wreath was made for us by my very talented mother-in-law. Isn't it pretty?! :) (I did this project and wrote this post back in August. So it is a little old.)

Every Good and Perfect Gift
Have you ever been given a special gift or blessing that you could not stop smiling about? We'll almost a week ago, I received just such a gift. Matt and I were just driving home from visiting with his parents for the day and something caught my eye just a couple of streets from our home. Propped up just as pretty as you please against a tree was a head board!
Let me back up a minute and explain something. Matt and I haven't had a headboard on our bed for the five years that we've been married. We looked many different times into buying one, but it is hard to come up with $300+ dollars on a tight budget. I had even considered making one to attach to the wall like I've seen so many different times on home improvement shows. The only problem with that is that the head of our bed has to be against a window. Matt, being the carpenter that he is, had offered to build us one too. Of course, that would take more time and money. So we just went without and kept our eyes open.
I'm so glad that I did have my eyes open that day! We drove right by the house so I asked Matt if he would turn around, and being the loving husband that he is, he did. We pulled up and I jumped out to see what size it was. It was a QUEEN SIZE HEAD BOARD! I walked up to the house and asked the lady about it and she said that it was FREE! I was so excited. I told Matt the great news and then we were trying to figure out how we'd get it home in our four door Honda. I walked back up to the house just to let the lady know that we'd have to come back for it in a few minutes. This time her husband answered the door. Well, he asked how far we lived and then he loaded it into his truck and followed us home. He also told us that he had bought it for his wife 6 months ago. She didn't like it and she thought it was ugly. So it had never been used and it still had the tags on it! We only had $15 cash in the house so we gave it to him with a tract. I can only imagine what he really paid for it.
Anyway, that is the story of our head board. It was such a blessing! I truly believe the Lord gave it to us. I walk into our bedroom and see this beautiful new head board and it just makes me smile and thank the Lord!
